Structural Design and Mechanical Analysis of Strawberry Picking Robot

Abstract: To address the problems of low-efficiency, personnel fatigue, non-productive movements, and fruit damage caused by uneven operating force as well as frequent touching and squeezing during manual strawberry picking, a strawberry picking robot suitable for both ridge-planting and elevated-planting modes is proposed. The robot integrates a mobile platform, multi-degree-of-freedom robotic arm, and gripper-type end-effector. It adopts servo-motor drives and ball-screw transmission mechanisms to improve motion-control precision and operational stability. Finite element analysis was conducted to verify the structural safety of key components. The results indicate that the stress distribution of critical parts and the overall deformation comply with the allowable limits of materials, which confirms the reliability of the structural design. Modal analysis further verifies that all vibration modes effectively avoid the operating-frequency range and eliminate the risk of resonance. The robot features a compact structure, smooth operation and high-precision positioning, which provides a cost-effective and easy-to-maintain solution for the automated harvesting of fruits and vegetables.
