Fault Analysis and Improvement of the Belt-Type Chip Conveyor

  • The belt-type chip conveyor is characterized by simple structure, and mainly applied in the processing and production lines of machine tools. Due to its large number of sliding friction surfaces during operation, the chip conveyor is worn during normal use and must be maintained regularly. In this paper, the mechanical fault and improvement measures of the chip conveyors are analyzed. By analyzing the structural principles and fault classification of the SUC8202S CNC lathe chip conveyor, the study has found that the blockage and wear of the chip conveyor are the main faults, which is mainly caused by the mismatching between design principles and actual conditions. Therefore, the maintenance measures are then provided; it is necessary to actually consider the clients' required cutting technology and implement regular maintenance measures in the design stage and use stage of conveyors, so that the faults can be decreased.
