Research on Grinding Performance Testing Method of Conventional Abrasives

  • The ordinary abrasives are widely used, known as “the industrial teeth”. In order to evaluate the performance of ordinary abrasives, a method to evaluate the abrasive performance of ordinary abrasives by means of the mass loss of the dielectric ball when the dielectric ball is grinding the ordinary abrasives is presented in this paper. The influence of the abrasive media, experimental parameters and types of ordinary abrasives on the test results of abrasive performance is systematically studied and analyzed. The results show that the test method of abrasive grinding performance has certain feasibility, repeatability and universality. Considering the convenience and efficiency of the test method, it is suggested to select a single large size zirconia ball as the grinding medium; the optimal ball-material mass ratio is 3∶ 1, the rotation speed is 320 r/min, and the grinding time is 90 min. The experimental results have certain guiding significance for improving the quality index and quality control of ordinary abrasives.
