Design and Experimental Study on Rapid Thermal Jet Deicing Device

  • Determining how to quickly and economically remove the ice on the airport runways, city roads and bridges is becoming an important topic to keep the traffic flow and safe in the snow and icy weather. Based on the analysis of current researches on different deicing methods, a new method which combines the thermal water-jet cutting with the mechanical-milling deicing technology is presented in this paper. Factors which have effects on de-ice have been researched and experimentally analyzed, such as the jet pressure, nozzle aperture, standoff, jet injection angles, etc. After the relevant experimental research, it shows that the device can effectively implement the de-icing operation and meet the design requirements.
