Research on a New Preparation Process of Copper Tiles for Mineral Furnace

  • Copper tiles are mainly used in submerged arc furnaces, and their high-strength and high conductivity performance is particularly important in transmitting large currents. In response to the requirements for comprehensive performance of copper tiles, a new process has been proposed for the production and processing of copper tile plates. By using a semi continuous casting process, flat ingots are casted and sawn to size and then heated before rolling. The rolled copper ingots are sawn into copper billets of corresponding size, which are then formed and processed by using a series of machining equipment. This improves the requirements for heat resistance, thermal conductivity, and mechanical strength of copper tiles. After relevant experimental analysis and on-site application, it has been verified that this process effectively reduces copper tile faults, increases the service time of copper tiles, relatively reduces the downtime of the submerged arc furnace, and thus improves the economic benefits.
