Research on Optimization of Cutting Drum Structure of High Mining Height Coal Mining Machine based on Finite Element Analysis

  • In this article, the ultra large cutting drum of ϕ 4.5m coal mining machine is taken as the research object; after the structural analysis, it is found that the drum hub has poor stability in the cutting process of high mining height working face due to its large area and small thickness. The 3D model of cutting drum is built by using UG modeling software, and its strength and stiffness is analyzed by using the Ansys finite element simulation software. Based on the analysis results, structure of the stress concentration area (reinforcing ribs) is optimized to improve stress conditions and enhance the equipment performance. The optimized cutting drum of the coal mining machine is deployed to the cutting work of a large mining height working face in Shanxi, and then continuously monitored for 8 months. The results show that the structural design of drum is reasonable, and the stability is good during the test period, which would increase the production progress and economic benefits of enterprises.
