Study on Hollow Riveting Strength of Carbon Fiber Composite Structures

  • In view of the difficulty in determining the hollow riveting quality of carbon fiber composite structures, the joint strength of hollow rivet under different rivet tail size was compared by shear test, pull-off test and rotating moment test, and the criterion for determining the riveting quality based on rivet tail size was found. The test proves that the strength of M5 hollow rivet can be satisfied when the diameter of rivet tail is more than 8 mm, which provides guidance for the application of hollow rivet in composite structures.
