Design and Application of Lathe Center Height Corrector
-
Abstract
To address the problems associated with calibrating lathe center height using shims and the resulting limitations on tool usage, this paper designs a lathe center height adjustment device featuring convenient adjustment, high rigidity, and strong stability. The device consists of a handle, a dial scale, a locking nut, a thrust bearing, and other components. After fabrication, debugging, and improvement, as well as validation through practical machining applications, the device achieves a transition from stepped adjustment using shims to stepless continuous adjustment of the center height. It effectively resolves the interchangeability limitations caused by differences in tool thickness, lathe models, and center heights, reduces tool damage, and decreases machining errors resulting from inaccurate tool center height.
