Research and Analysis on Surface Protection of Bolts Using DLC Film Coatings
-
Abstract
Aluminum alloy and steel are important aerospace materials and are widely used in fields such as aerospace and shipbuilding. Due to fretting wear of materials, many components experience reduced service life and premature fatigue failure. To address the fretting wear issue of damper bolts in a certain aircraft model, the introduction of diamond-like carbon (DLC) film as a surface protection method for the bolts was considered. In this study, the properties of the DLC film were evaluated using the scratch test method. The results verified that the diamond-like carbon (DLC) film possesses advantages such as high surface hardness, low friction coefficient, and excellent wear resistance, demonstrating outstanding fretting wear performance. Furthermore, comparative fatigue tests were conducted on stainless steel bolts with and without DLC coating. The results show that while the DLC film significantly improves wear resistance, it does not reduce the fatigue performance of the metal.
