Influences of Turn-milling Processing Parameters on Cutting Temperature and Workpiece Surface Roughness of TC11 Titanium Alloy

Abstract
As an advanced cutting technology, turning-milling cutting can improve the machining accuracy and surface quality of titanium alloys. This paper conducted orthogonal turning-milling cutting experiments of Ti-6.5Al-3.5Mo-1.5Zr-0.3Si (TC11) titanium alloy, and studied the influences of cutting parameters on cutting temperature and workpiece surface roughness. The results shown that with the increase of cutting parameters (milling cutter speed, workpiece speed and cutting depth), the cutting temperature of titanium alloy showed an increasing trend. Surface roughness decreased with the increase of milling cutter speed, and increased with the increase of workpiece speed and cutting depth. Among them, the milling cutter speed and workpiece speed had a greater influence on surface roughness, while the cutting depth has a smaller influence on surface roughness.
